Mei-Ling Daniell-Greenhalgh (Meiling Joy) is a mezzo-soprano from the United Kingdom. She graduated with honors in musicology and singing from the University of Leeds. In 2019, Meiling completed an Erasmus program at the Académie Supérieure de Musique de Strasbourg. There she participated in numerous concerts and masterclasses—with Alessandro Amoretti, Karl-Peter Kammerlander, and Jennifer Davidson, among others—and immersed herself in the contemporary vocal repertoire.
She has performed various opera roles, including Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro (Mozart), Dido in Dido and Aeneas (Purcell), Zerlina in Don Giovanni (Mozart), Hermia in A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Britten), and Dulcinée in Don Quichotte (Massenet). Most recently, she appeared as Anette and as a Jewish girl in the opera class’s annual production of Die Weiße Rose by Udo Zimmermann at the Staatsschauspiel Dresden. She has also performed at renowned London concert halls such as the Royal Festival Hall, the Royal Albert Hall, and St John’s Smith Square.
Also in London, Meiling gained valuable recording and live broadcast experience, including the world premiere of Patrick Hawes’ The Great War Symphony, a composition produced in collaboration with Classic FM and Audio Network, which was ultimately recorded at Abbey Road Studios.
She is a member of the Dresden Chamber Choir and performs regularly as a concert soloist – most recently with the Dresden Residenz Orchestra and at Berlin Cathedral.
In the summer of 2025, Meiling completed her master’s degree in voice at the Carl Maria von Weber University of Music in Dresden. Her studies were supported by the Giovanni Omodeo Scholarship.
