German Award for Choral Conducting Berlin Concert

Whether becoming choral director at the Staatsoper Stuttgart, lecturer at a music academy or principal conductor of the SWR Vokalensemble – the careers of the finalists at the six German Awards for Choral Conducting thus far have been diverse and impressive.

The scholarship programme Forum Dirigieren run by the German Music Council was extended in 2008 to include choral conducting. At the time, the RIAS Kammerchor Berlin already provided major impetus for this expansion; since then they have been a regular partner of the German Music Council in organising workshops and for the German Award for Choral Conducting.

This year as well, highly talented conductors have qualified for the finale; with the RIAS Kammerchor they will undertake a foray through the choral repertoire of the 16th to 20th centuries. Besides the prize money, the awarding of which is decided upon by a high-profile, international jury, the audience will once again have the possibility to vote on their favourite with an audience prize.

The concert will be recorded by Deutschlandfunk Kultur.

The concert will be conducted by the finalists of the Forum Dirigieren. | In cooperation with the Forum Dirigieren of the German Music Council.
