Ulrike Bartsch was born in Osnabrück and first studied school music at the University of Music and Drama in Hanover in 1972. She then went on to study singing there with Prof. von Glasow and Carol Richardson. She gained further vocal experience in master classes with Judith Beckmann, Kurt Widmer, Bernarda Fink, and Jutta Schlegel, among others. While still a student, she gained an impression of the work of a radio choir through frequent freelance work with the NDR Choir. She has been a permanent member of the RIAS Chamber Choir Berlin since 1993.
What was your most memorable experience during your time in the choir?
My most memorable concert experience was Frank Martin’s Le Vin herbé at the Essen Philharmonic in 2003 with Daniel Reuss. Everything was just right: the energy, the wonderful music, the acoustics, and of course the magnificent Sharoun Ensemble. It all came together perfectly!
