
Minsub Hong comes from South Korea. He began his musical training with a bachelor’s degree at Hanyang University in Seoul, studying with Prof. Young-Jo Shin, and continued his studies at the Korean National University of Art with Sangho Choi. He then came to Germany to continue his studies at the Berlin University of the Arts with Prof. Peter Maus. He completed his master’s degree in early music with Gundula Anders at the Leipzig University of Music and Theater.
Minsub Hong attended master classes with Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau and Rocky Chung. As a soloist, he has given and continues to give concerts with René Jacobs, Ivan Fischer, and Masaaki Suzuki. He has been a guest at festivals such as the Bachfest Leipzig, the Heinrich Schütz Musikfest, and the Kurt Weill Fest. He also works with the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, the Konzerthausorchester Berlin, the Freiburger Barockorchester, and the Capella de la Torre. He was a member of the Collegium Vocale Seoul and the Bach Solisten Seoul and worked for the Rundfunkchor Berlin and the MDR Rundfunkchor in Leipzig. Minsub Hong has been a member of the RIAS Kammerchor Berlin since 2014.
What fascinates you about singing?
Singing has always been a part of my life. My childhood was accompanied by the sounds of my parents singing, both at home and in church. From the age of ten, I also had the desire to become a singer myself. So singing has always been by my side and will remain so throughout my life.
