
Kai Roterberg studied double bass with Klaus Trumpf and singing with Brenda Mitchell and Scot Weir at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin. His childhood as a member of the Leipzig Thomanerchor was already marked by intensive musical training. After initially working as an orchestral musician for some time, he has been a member of the RIAS Chamber Choir Berlin for many years.
What fascinates you about singing?
What fascinates me about singing is that you always have your instrument with you. This has disadvantages, such as the susceptibility of my “instrument” to illness, but also decisive advantages: I can never forget my “instrument” anywhere; moreover, I will never have transportation problems—as a former double bass player, I know from my own painful experience what I’m talking about…
