Marek Janowski was born in Warsaw but grew up in Germany, where he also received his musical training. Since 2002 he has been the principal conductor of Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin; he is also artistic director of both the Monte Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra and the long-standing Orchestre de la Suisse-Romande in Geneva. Following an unprecedented operatic career which took him to all the major opera houses in the Old and New Worlds, Marek Janowski has recently been concentrating more on concert performances. He regularly appears as guest conductor with some of the most prestigious symphony orchestras in the world. Many of Marek Janowski’s CD recordings have garnered prestigious awards, including the Echo Klassik, the Cannes Classical Award and the Gramophone Award.
