Stefan Asbury from the UK gained scholarships to Oxford University and the Royal College of Music in London. Nowadays he is considered one of the world’s leading exponents of contemporary music and regularly appears as guest conductor with prominent orchestras and ensembles. He is particularly closely associated with London Sinfonietta, the Ensemble Modern and the Cologne-based musikFabrik. Stefan Asbury has served on the faculty of the Tanglewood Music Center since 1995. He has also conducted numerous opera and ballet productions, including at Opera de Lyon, La Monnaie in Brussels, and the Netherlands Dance Theatre. He first conducted RIAS Kammerchor at its 2005 New Year’s concert.
