Giovanni Antonini

Giovanni Antonini studied at the Civica Scuola di Musica in Milan (the city of his birth) and Centre de Musique Ancienne in Geneva. A recorder virtuoso and founder member of the baroque ensemble Il Giardino Armonico, with whom he has enjoyed global success and recorded many award-winning CDs, Giovanni Antonini has enriched the range of expression of historical performance practice with fascinating, even revolutionary momentum. Nowadays, Antonini also conducts other ensembles and orchestras, including Basle Chamber Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, and Berliner Philharmoniker. Moreover, he conducts performances of opera and oratorio at the Salzburg Festival, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, and many other leading centres of music throughout Europe.
